Job Purpose:
FOR Cardiff is the Business Improvement District (BID) for Cardiff City Centre. We work on behalf of over 800 businesses to enhance Cardiff for those that live, work and visit the city centre.
The Associate Director role supports the Executive Director in delivering the strategic vision of the company and has direct responsibility leading the companies operations as well as the Place Marketing, Place Management, and Member Relations workstreams.
This is a newly created role and reflects FOR Cardiff’s aspirations in becoming a more strategic and forward thinking organisation delivering real change and impacts for the people and businesses within Cardiff city centre.
Key responsibilities:
- Identify opportunities for the company to evolve and grow within existing and new products and services.
- Analyse data and implement strategies to ensure FOR Cardiff achieves a major impact on the city centre and remains a leader in the BID industry.
- Support the Executive Director in professionalising the company’s performance management and training and development practices.
- Create reports for the leadership team and Board of Directors actively monitoring success of the workstreams, budgets and the company objectives, whilst also identifying any potential risks or opportunities.
- Ensuring robust and effective corporate governance, financial, performance and risk systems and processes are in place.
- Support the Executive Director in the successful roll out of the BID 3 campaign, creation of the BID 3 business plan and securing the 3rd term yes vote.
- Identify and implement operational efficiencies to ensure projects are delivered to a high standard and strengthen the companies brand and reputation.
- Work with key public sector partners such as the Council and Police to ensure FOR Cardiff’s projects deliver additionality for members and align where possible to partner objectives and their strategic priorities for the city.
- Manage the workstream leads for Place Marketing, Place Management and Member Relations workstreams including development an on time and on budget delivery of annual plans that align with the FOR Cardiff vision and strategy.
- Lead on working with partners and colleagues to better understand our members and the Cardiff customer and deliver projects and campaigns that boost footfall and city experience.
- Support the Executive Director in the successful rollout and development of the workstreams across the company ensuring that the main company objectives remain at the heart of that decision making internally and externally.
- Lead on curating and shaping the organisation’s culture to reflect its values and mission by fostering an inclusive work environment.
- Implement initiatives to create a work environment that supports employees’ physical and mental wellbeing.

Relevant Experience:
- Experience identifying patterns and trends to support informed decision making that aligns with the company’s long-term vision and objectives
- Experience interpreting data and information from a range of sources, including market research and financial reports
- Experience of successful strategic and operational resource and budget management
- Strong people management and company culture management experience
- An understanding of governance and the importance of its role in companies
- Experience developing strong relationships with senior leaders from a range of public and private sector organisations
- Problem solver, with proven conceptual, analytical and strategic thinking skills
- An understanding of Business Improvement Districts
