Things to Do
Illuminated Reeds Symphony: FREE Interactive Light Experience
Nestled amid the redeveloped Canal Quarter, just off Queen Street, this immersive light experience transports you from the busy and bustling atmosphere of Cardiff City Centre to a serene and illuminating space. Created by a team of Welsh artists, the experience combines music and recordings of the Welsh countryside with dazzling LED lights which come to life when you by jump, dance or tap on the accessible interactive ground pads.
Kids Eat Free at Bill’s
Up to two kids can eat free ALL DAY from Monday 12th February – Friday 23rd February (excluding Saturday & Sunday), if one adult orders any main dish (breakfast, lunch, & dinner). The children’s menu features family favourites including the famous buttermilk pancakes, mac & cheese, and fish fingers & chips. View T&Cs for more information. Book a table.
Cardiff Story Museum
- FREE Dinky Dragons, 9th February: Perfect for babies, toddlers and their grown-ups. Drop-in 10am – 3pm for soft and messy play. Rhyme and story time is at 11am and again at 1pm.
- The Twitchers Museum Adventure, 12th to 18th February: Join birdwatching detectives The Twitchers and explore beautiful birds and amazing animals.
- FREE Story Time with Cath Little, 13th February: Storyteller Cath Little will be returning to the museum this half-term. Pop over and hear some enchanting tales about the places and things that we treasure.
- FREE Half-Term Crafty Wednesday, 14th February: Creative and crafty fun for all the family.
Cardiff Castle – Half-Term Animal Adventures, 13th February
Visit Cardiff Castle for an exciting, hands-on encounter with some exotic members of the animal kingdom. As entertaining as it is educational, this show lets you get up-close and personal with some amazing species while learning all about their habitats and behaviours. Great fun for kids of all ages, mums and dads are allowed to get involved too. All tickets cost £7.00 per person, babies under 12 months go free.
The New Theatre – The Gruffalo’s Child, 13th to 15th February
Follow the Gruffalo’s Child on her adventurous mission in Tall Stories’ enchanting adaptation of the much-loved picture book. Let your imagination run wild with songs, laughs and scary fun for everyone aged 3 to 103. £15 – £17 per ticket.
National Museum Cardiff – FREE Artes Mundi Family Drop-in Sessions , 14th & 15th February
The National Museum invites families to celebrate the work of Rushdi Anwar, Alia Farid and Mounira Al Solh by creating your own artworks. Designed for 5-10 year olds (but everyone is welcome) this workshop encourages children to explore sculpture, textiles and drawing techniques. Drop-in at any time between 11am and 2pm. No need to book. Parents or guardians must accompany children under 16 at all times. Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy!
Treetop Golf
With two, indoor, 18-hole mini golf courses – there’s plenty to keep your little explorers entertained. Tackle the Tropical Trail together and explore the Mystic Wood or brave the ruins of the Ancient Explorer. Whichever route you choose, don’t forget to take on the Bonus 19th hole for a chance to win a free round. Grab handmade pizza from Pizza Cabana, tropical drinks from The Thirsty Toucan and freshly brewed coffee from the Jungle Buzz Café.
