Yesterday (30th January) First Minister Eluned Morgan confirmed that the Welsh Government would grant planning permission to the new Cardiff Parkway station in St Mellons. This decision follows a review process which has been ongoing since October 2022 after Cardiff Council had originally granted permission in April 2022.
Carolyn Brownell Executive Director of FOR Cardiff said,
“We’re pleased to see the development of Cardiff Parkway take this step forward. The new station will significantly improve opportunities for residents in the east of the city to access central Cardiff by public transport. We know that a city where more people choose to travel by public transport is vital to meet the city’s climate obligations and to creating a welcoming and enjoyable city centre environment. We look forward to seeing the project progress.”
