Do you live or work in Cardiff, or visit the area often? Landsec, owners of St David’s Shopping Centre, want to hear from you!
Landsec are inviting the public to share their thoughts on a new city square at the former Debenhams site. They purchased the site in 2023 with the vision of transforming it into a vibrant, public space for the local community and visitors to enjoy. The aim is to ensure the square meets the existing and future needs of the local community, while also feeling uniquely ‘Cardiff’.
Helen Morgan, Centre Director at St David’s Cardiff said:
“These plans have the potential to bring so much to Cardiff. New outdoor space will revitalise this part of the city centre for local people to enjoy and provide a better all-day-out experience for guests visiting St David’s and Cardiff.
“Now our focus is to engage with local people, community groups and stakeholders to work with us to shape the future of St David’s, so we can continue to contribute to our thriving capital city.”
Over the coming months, Landsec will be engaging with residents and organisations in the surrounding community to explore what this new space could look and feel like, what it could provide for local families, and how it could bring more nature and spaces to play to the city centre. People have until April 2024 to share their thoughts, and are also invited to attend design events throughout February and March.
