We are looking for an enthusiastic Business Crime Reduction Officer to join FOR Cardiff to assist in the running of Cardiff Against Business Crime (CABC). CABC is an accredited Business Crime Reduction Partnership that is dedicated to protecting business premises in Cardiff and making the city a safer place for customers, clients, and employees. Reporting to the Business Crime Reduction Manager, you’ll be the operational face of CABC, responsible for promoting the CityNet public safety radio network and working with partners to ensure our members adopt effective practices by delivering crime reduction projects, campaigns and member briefings.

Job Title: Business Crime Reduction Officer
Responsible to: Business Crime Reduction Manager
Salary: £23,000pa with a bonus of 4% related to performance against set KPIs

Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Flexible shift pattern (within a Monday to Saturday working week) and to include occasional evening work

Working Environment: The working day will be predominantly away from the FOR Cardiff offices engaging with businesses and partners
Job Function: To assist in the delivery of business crime reduction initiatives across Cardiff city centre · To assist the Business Crime Reduction Manager in developing and maintaining a partnership approach to business-crime reduction and anti-social behaviour within the FOR Cardiff area through face to face contact with businesses and their staff as well as South Wales Police and other Cardiff Against Business Crime (CABC) partners · To build and maintain strong working relationships with the members of the CABC network in order to successfully deliver crime reduction initiatives across the city.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the local authority, police, and other agencies to promote and develop crime-reduction initiatives, including the recording and sharing of information and a recognised offender exclusion programme.
- Assist the BCRP Manager in managing the DISC™ intelligence and incident database by managing data entry and intelligence obtained from members and any other duties as may be required ·
- Promote and recruit new subscribers to the CityNet radio system
- Be a CityNet radio superuser and train new employees of members as well as providing refresher training for longer serving employees.
- Proactively work with agencies who have a role / influence over business crime matters to improve partnership working and data collection
- To work in partnership with the licensed trade, businesses and regulatory authorities to improve the management of the day evening and night-time economy and businesses, setting standards of management and recognizing and implementing good practice
- To work with the police, licensed venues, trade groups and other agencies to improve safety of visitors and employees
- As instructed by the Business Crime Reduction Manager, attend meetings of relevant organisations related to crime reduction/anti-social behaviour initiatives and follow up on appropriate issues and actions
- Build relationships with businesses and provide details of CABC benefits, promotions and schemes, and signing up participants
- To be aware of relevant legislation related to the role
- To support senior officers by helping to ensure that all systems, equipment and procedures comply with Health and Safety and Data Protection and other current requirements
- To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required within the general scope of the post
- To carry out any other duties identified by the Executive Director and Business Crime Reduction Manager
