City Ambition Fund Round Four Funded Projects

The City Ambition Fund provides the opportunity for residents, businesses, and community groups with an idea that aligns with FOR Cardiff’s aims to access funding and see their projects come to life.

The fund opened for the first time in 2022 and provided funding for a wide range of projects, including the Cardiff Wine Passport which has since generated more than £30,000 in revenue for local independent restaurants and bars.

The fourth round of City Ambition funding opened in September 2024, offering grants of up to £1,500 to creative, impactful projects that will help make Cardiff an even better place to live, work, and visit.

We are pleased to share the projects that we are supporting with this fourth round of City Ambition Funding.

Radar Magazine

Radar Magazine will be filming live sessions from Cardiff-based musicians that will take place in city centre businesses. Their previous live sessions have driven revenue for venues, and they hope this will be the case for venues in the city centre.

Beacons

Beacons will be running their music industry workshop series, Resonant, that works with young people of marginalised genders to enhance their knowledge and abilities within the music sector. This will culminate in the organisation of a live music event at Clwb Ifor Bach in December.

Sherman Theatre

The Sherman Theatre will be running their Sanctuary Festival, which includes performances, workshops, and activities for young people. It aims to bring together people from different backgrounds, including people from marginalised groups.

Coven Xperience

Coven Xperience will run a captivating pop-up event, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in a powerful collection of LGBTQ+ stories through cutting-edge spatial audio. For three days, two dynamic pop-up events will take place in Cardiff’s city centre, hosted by members of the LGBTQ+ community, offering attendees the chance to engage with stories that celebrate identity, diversity, and LGBTQ + narratives in a deeply personal and innovative way.

The Queer Emporium

The Queer Emporium will host a Cabaret show with Kabambi featuring Black queer creatives.

Porters

Porters will be expanding their outside area, including keg storage, building a soundproof shelter and adding greenery.
